Great quote

Definitely encapsulates some of our feelings toward the wedding:

"As a bride, don’t feel boxed in by what your friends or relatives have done to celebrate their big day. Instead, be sure to take your personal life and have that reflected in your celebrations. If you’re a science geek, embrace it! Pull in elements from your career, your hobbies and your talents and share them with your guests- they love you for all your little quirks and skills, so highlight them with all the little creative details!"

Progressive Weddings... genius idea

Source: Oh Happy Day!
Catching up on my bridal blogs this evening, I stumbled upon a post by Jordan Ferney at Oh Happy Day! where she has chronicled the wedding of a friend of hers that was a progressive wedding.

What do I mean by that? Well in college, we had something called a Chocolate Progressive where every room in our section hosted something deliciously chocolatey and we invited all of campus to come tour the dorms and try everything- moving from one room to the next.

So how might that same concept be applied to a wedding? Scoot over Jordan's blog to learn more details but basically - her friend and her husband had a multi-stage reception including surprising every guest with a rented bike to ride to the first part of the reception. They moved through three different sites ending with a toast in the botanical gardens.

What a brilliant idea! So often it's easy to assume that your wedding / wedding reception needs to follow a certain rubric and here is a couple really thinking outside the box. I truly love the layered surprise aspect and blowing traditional wedding expectations out of the water. I'm completely inspired.
